Artist's Comments

..was looking through some old shots from Japan in '03 ..I really miss visiting there, but mostly just traveling :(

technica: there are 3 levels of desaturation to the original photo. I tried to leave more color in the center, and tapered it to become more speia tone as it got farther out..also some selective dodging / burning.

*edit* thanks for the great input here from you guys, I made a small adjustment based on your comments ;)

*edit2* another slight change..

I really, really, REALLY like this alot! Instant :+fav: Your technique is very successful at setting mood and an almost out of place feel to the two waling away ... you might even add a bit of bright on the road where they recently travelled to "pull" them back into the image .. but I like it just the way it is too!

Now I have to go check out yer galleria :)

its a great shot....... But i really dont like the Photoshopping here, personally a good/simple black and white or duo-tone would be much more effective.

The people are too obtrusive in this manner, they look almost photoshopped in.

Personally i think its a great shot, but the photoshopping just doesnt do it for me :(

I'd love to go to Japan... lucky sod

Very nice. It looks like they're just floating there - almost composited in.

sometimes I am walking through a scene, and I see someone ... someone with intention, with joy, with presence. And they seem to glow in a gray world--it's just like this.
:icondelphic-odin:
great photoshop work it really adds to the effect of the overall piece
:iconlesliee:
Yes! Exactly. That tiny bit of light underfoot really pulls it together. hip hip hurray! Or did you just add burn around them to drop them back into scene? Either way, I think it's perfect now!

:boogie:

PS I'm so glad I refreshed my browser on new submissions when I did or would have missed this altogether and your great gallery (which I'm now watching) :) stroke of luck!
:iconer0k:
you are way too kind ;) thank you again for the great words / help..I actually did burn around them a bit..as well as sampled a bit of yellow muddyish color from near them to not make them quite so colorfull and blend in better :D

have to run for now..but wanted to give my thanks :worship:

this is a beautiful photo mad props!
i thinkthat the bright spot is brilliant good emphasis but i think that the spot is a bit to harsh like. i think extending it
out a bit more like covering a slightly bigger area would work better.
i thinkthat the photoshop works here but the yellow spot is a bit too bright as compared to the above part and the bottom.
nonetheless its a brilliant shot.!
:iconer0k:
much  my friend. your words are exactly what made me kneel down and take this..

(I am now going to let you write all my descriptions from now on lol)
